Ash Scattering at Sea in Miami & Fort Lauderdale – Burial Services
The moment when you know that a special person has passed, no matter if you knew it was inevitable, is always difficult. So many memories and so much love but undisputedly a blinding wave of sadness takes over and stops you in your tracks. During these tough moments, it’s really difficult to focus on the tasks at hand. The “to do” list can be very demanding. We, at Island Queen Cruises & Tours, are here to make life easier for you and your loved ones by making the “to do” list less daunting. A burial at sea and Ash Scattering are a calming and peaceful way to say your goodbyes surrounded by the serenity offered by the waters of sea.
The Sea Burial Ceremony
There are multiple ways to customize your ceremony with the help of our team.
The ceremony can consist of tossing real flowers at the location where the ashes are to be scattered. The flowers can be separate or combined with the ashes. Our captain will then circle around the site while the family members and guests say their final goodbyes. Once the final goodbyes have been said our team would be happy to assist with a champagne toast or your drink of choice. If your loved one had a special drink we would love to know and help make this moment even more meaningful.
A prayer can be recited, words may be shared, or a moment of silence.
If you provide us with your loved ones favorite music, our crew will play it before and after the ceremony that can occur at any time of the day or night. We would recommend a peaceful sunset ceremony surrounded by nature and the possibly jumping dolphins which is a great way to celebrate life.
Some of the things to take during an Ash Scattering are the following:
- Ash scattering must take place 3 nautical miles from the coastline
- The cremation container must be disposed of separately and in an environmentally-safe manner
- For floating ceremony a water-soluble urn is required. This will float for a few minutes before sinking below the surface to bio-degrade naturally
- We will provide the coordinates of where the ashes were scattered
- Food and beverage can be either provided by us or you can provide your own
- Our vessel, Recess, carries up to 12 people.
- Only real flowers permitted
If you have any questions give us a call and we would be happy to walk you through a burial at sea. Once you know that this is the right way for you and your loved ones, we will take care of the details to ensure you are able to celebrate your loved ones life and say your goodbyes.
